Vintage Vincent Bach "Mercury" Cornet; New York, Brass Lacquer, 1950s, Hardcase - $700 - (Sioux City, IA)
Up for consideration is this vintage Vincent Bach Mercury cornet. It is pre- Mt.Vernon and the serial number, 9784, dates it between 1950-53. The horn is in great shape, overall, but does have general wear. It doesn't appear to have ever been previously repaired. The lacquer is in great shape, but is worn on the normal areas and some spots on the bell. The valves are in great condition, with matching serial numbers on the stems/ caps/ pistons, and function really well. All of the slides are free and smooth. Compression is really good. The original case is included and is in nice shape; the interior is great, but the exterior has general wear with a few nicks in the wrap (the key is missing). An era appropriate Vincent Bach New York cornet mouthpiece is included; it is in decent shape, but does have plating loss, insertion markings, and a few nicks on the cup.
