MARY'S ANNUNCIATION HOLY SPIRIT MEXICAN FOLK ART TIN PAINTING RETABLO 19TH C. - $1,250 - (Grover Beach, CA)

The holy spirit is visiting the unmarried Mary, in the form the white dove. Mary is holding three lilies representing a virgins purity. She is wearing a crown of roses, which precludes Jesus's crown of thorns, and the pain that she has not yet experienced. The blossoming roses represent the joy she experiences at the birth of Jesus. She has not yet experienced the suffering of his crucifixion and death. So, in essence, this is the youthful Mary, prior to the extreme suffering and anguish which are in her future. The artwork is fine. The frame is gorgeous, old and rich with character. There are two panels missing from the frame... please see pics. The frame, overal, measures roughly 19" wide by 21" high. The tin ratablo measures approximately 9-1/2" x 12" high, more or less. This has the best character, both close-up and from afar.
