Antique English Slide Trumpet by Arnold Circa 1850 - $4,800 - (West Newton, MA)

Double clockspring English Slide Trumpet in F by English maker Arnold, London from Circa 1850. This instrument has a notched micro tuner rather than using tuning bits...top technology of the time! Extremely unusual Cannon/Union Jack and Trumpet motif around the garland. Plays with a noble and beautiful sound. The double clockspring return mechanism is housed in a single casing. You won't find one of these down at the corner music store. Previously owned by a (now retired) member of the Chicago Symphony. The bell has been repaired at some point in the past as you can see where the garland was removed and replaced again (pictured). There is well done patch (pictured) where the right index finger is in contact with the instrument. The slide mechanism, and notched tuning slide work well.
