for sale probably one of the very finest antique solid rosewood prudent mallard 4 poster canopy beds with finials.. most beds the side rails and head and foot boards are veneered. not this one, it is solid very fine rosewood. bed is in near mint condition. I have never used the canopy with the bed, just the finials. with finials on top it is almost 101 inches tall. it is 58 wide and the rails are 72 inches long. the bed is actually about another 10 inches long owing to the large posts. it cleats together with perfection. the foot board, rails and bottom of head board cleat into the posts and are as solid as the day it was made. the main head board slots into the lower portion into grooves and then has hooks to stabilize it, most solid. no wiggles, wobbles, or movement of any nature. it is a gorgeous solid rosewood bed. I have old antique books with beds similar to this one but none as nice. they book from about 9-30,000.00. there are none in any book I have nearly as nice as I expect it would book for 40K 20 years ago. the canopy of course rest on top of the bed and pegs into the top of the posts with 3/4 inch dowels. you would need to make a skirt to go all the way around and then put a covering over it which it held up by the front and back of the canopy and 3 center supports. you can dowel in the canopy with the finial post dowels as well if you want to add the finials to the canopy.. I am old and crippled up almost to a wheel chair and need to dispose of many many items. I am starting this bed far far less than I paid over30 years ago.it is taken apart and can be easily shipped at buyer's expense. it takes about 4 minutes to put it together or take apart. good luck.
