ANTIQUE EDISON STANDARD BANNER CYLINDER PHONOGRAPH LOWER CASE & LID (26) - $150 - (Holden, MA)

Up for bid is a nice antique Edison Standard cylinder phonograph banner style case and lid. With the lid installed, the case measures approximately 13 inches long by 9 inches wide by 10 ½ inches tall. Overall the case is in good condition. The exterior is quite dirty and dusty throughout and shows moderate to heavy black surface discoloration throughout, especially along the bottom edges. It could use a good cleaning. The exterior shows moderate surface scratching, scuffing, general wear and finish wear throughout. There are many spots of flaking, nicking and chipping to the wood along the bottom edges throughout. There is a 1 ½ inch long section of flaking and cracking to the wood along the center bottom edge on the back side. All four of the original rubber feet are present on the bottom of the case. The wood panel on the bottom of the case was made using three separate panels of wood and these panels are moderately separated/disjointed throughout where they meet. The panels will need to be secured back into place. The front banner decal shows moderate surface scratching, scuffing and wear throughout, which is slightly heavier than elsewhere. The lid is overall in good condition. The exterior is very dirty and dusty throughout and shows heavy black surface discoloration throughout. The veneer on the top of the lid shows moderate flaking and chipping along the left and right side edges. The bottom corners of the lid show some light surface separation/disjointing throughout and could use securing. The original wood handle is present on the top of the case and is in great condition. The interior of the lid is very dirty and dusty throughout with many large spots of white paint discoloration throughout the center. There are some areas of veneer flaking and chipping along the interior edges of the lid throughout.
