Reproduction Western Electric 51AL Brass Candlestick Telephone Good Condition - $180 - (Sacramento, CA)
Reproduction of Western Electric 51AL brass candlestick desk telephone in good cosmetic condition. I had this on display on a bedroom desk and then moved it to the kitchen counter. During the over 10 years I've had it, it's gone from very shiny to having noticeable patina. Not tested. Has brown cloth covered cords found with it. End of line cord for subset has two cloth covered conductors and those ends are frayed and both cords are frayed in places. Probably manufactured in the 1950s to the 1970s: receiver button is dated 12 9 55 and, looking through the transmitter hole behind the bullhorn, the transmitter button looks like those used in the Western Electric 500 series. Base has patent dates from 1915 to 1920. Switchhook operates well and dial turns and returns smoothly (but without any clickity-clack).
