Fine New York Early19th Century Classical Mahogany Secretary Beautifully figured mahogany secretary. Early 19th century with elegant late Federal and Gothic details. Similar to case pieces by Albany (NY) Cabinetmaker John Meads. Bought at estate sale near Albany and held in private collection since then. Lower portion features 2 large drawers framed by classical molding. Desk section opens to reveal original interior: felt writing surface and side cubicles for storage. Glass-fronted uppercase features Gothic arched openings and 4 shelves. Crown top is separate. Dimensions: Height: 89 ¼”; Width: 45 ¾”; Lower case depth 22”;Upper case depth 11 ¾”.
