William "Judy" Johnson was one of history's great baseball players. He played third base and was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975. He first played for the Madison Stars in 1919. Then, from 1921-1929 and, again, in 1931-1932, and 1937, Mr. Johnson played for Hilldale. Next, he played for the Homestead Grays in 1930 and the Pittsburg Crawfords from 1933-1936. His last game as a player in the Negro Leagues was with the Homstead Grays in 1937. Mr. Johnson played in the historic first Negro League World Series as he played for Hilldale against the Kansas City Monarchs in 1925. In that series, he emerged with a .364 Batting Average which included an inside the park home run. Mr. Johnson's Hilldale team became the champion in that first Negro League World Series. William "Judy" Johnson was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York in 1975. He spent many years as a Major League Baseball scout who can be credited for some of Major League Baseball's great players. In 1988, Mr. Johnson suffered a serious stroke, and he died on June 15, 1989 at the age of 89. Seller guarantees the authenticity of this signed autographed baseball by William "Judy" Johnson.
