Made in 1927 by the late, great York Band Instrument Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Serial number 89255. York was an esteemed instrument manufacturer from about 1882 to 1964. It's a straight soprano saxophone. Vintage Buescher Bb mouthpiece. It comes in the original York case, an original York flyer sheet, an old cleaning rod, and some ancient reeds. All the keyworks & mechanisms work. It has all its pads, but the pads are likely very old. The neck cork is also very old and missing a little bit. I have not serviced the saxophone. I got it from an instrument collector who had it for many years without playing it. So, while everything is here and basically functional, it could likely benefit from servicing. Cosmetically, it does have ordinary play wear all over. Despite the tarnish, though, it looks good. The lip of the bell is slightly bent. Other than that, it's not dented. There is a bit of soldering at the base of the palm keys where a long-ago repair was done (see photo). All in all, it's a classic All-American saxophone that just needs a little love to bring it back to full musical life.
