Antique Ottoman Empire Turkish .900 Silver Belt Hallmarked - Stamp of the Sultan - $750 - (Cheyenne, WY)

Antique Ottoman Empire Turkish .900 Silver Belt - Hallmarked - Stamp of the Sultan Up for sale today is a beautiful antique Ottoman Empire Turkish silver belt. The woven belt is constructed of .900 silver. The technique is called Trabzon. The buckle is filigree. Condition of this belt and buckle is very good, particularly considering it’s been more than a century since it was made. There are a couple small snags to the weave but, otherwise, it looks great. Whether you want to polish it up or keep the patina is up to you. There are Standard Marks on the keyhole escutcheons and the Tughra (mark of the Sultan) can be found in three places on the belt. Each Sultan had his own tughra. This mark, to me, looks like it could be from Mehmed V, (27 April 1909 – 3 July 1918), but I’m not sure. Also, it looks like there is a 90, in Arabic, at the 3 o'clock position. I believe this signifies .900 silver purity. This belt, tip to tip (including buckle), is 35 inches long and 1 ½ inches wide and weighs 375 grams. The buckle itself is 3 ¾ inches wide by 1 ¾ inches tall by about ½ inch deep. We try to describe condition as best we can, but a picture is worth a thousand words. We have included high resolution scans/pictures. As always, the scans/pictures are part of the description so, please review the scans/pictures and judge condition for yourself. Please ask any questions before bidding. Be sure to check out our other listings. Shipping can be combined wherever possible and practical. This item will ship only within the continental United States. We accept PayPal only. Happy bidding and thanks for looking!
