1971 Harmony Sovereign Flattop Acoustic Black Finish w/ OHSC - Made in USA - $359 - (Funkstown, MD)
I purchased this instrument because I recognized immediately that it was in exceptional condition for it's age. Just look at photo of the headstock logo. Comments... 1. Neck is very flat, bridge does not have much room to be shaved down, action is a bit high.2. Instrument tunes up easily, intonation is very close, guitar stays in tune.3. Interior is stamped 1192H164. These Harmonies do not have serial numbers, but based on the logo and finish details, I am pretty sure it is a 1971 H164 Model.4. Chipboard case has a nice red "fuzzy" interior, I think it is original to this instrument.5. Until seeing this guitar, I had no idea that Harmony was building guitars in the USA as recently as 1971.6. Most of these instruments appear to have shipped from factory with a pickguard. I don't see any evidence this instrument ever had one.7. Guitar is loud, sounds good, clearly a quality instrument. (Birch Body - Spruce Top) - I like the moustache bridge.
