Awaiting your purchase is a superb English Georgian Britannia silver Hanoverian rat-tail pattern table or serving spoon made in London in 1715 by the distinguished silversmith and specialist spoonmaker Andrew Archer. This wonderful spoon, forged in the second year of the reign of George I and showing a raised central rib to the handle – a characteristic of early 18thC spoons – remains in excellent antique condition with minimal wear. There is an excellent set of marks to the back of the stem – AR for Andrew Archer, Britannia, Leopard's Head Erased, and a very good date letter for 1715. The back of the handle bears engraved initials "EE" for the original owner.
