This Newcomb College vase stands a respectable 8.75" high by 3.25" in diameter. It has a classic slender form, with a bulb hip. This vase was decorated by one of Newcomb's favored artists, Miss Anna Frances Simpson, in a classic Arts & Crafts floral motif. Simpson's tenure at Newcomb was from 1902-1929. She decorated this beauty in 1926. The design depicts sweet Pink Iris blossoms and leaves which flow upward on the vase. This vase is glazed in a magnificent dusty light to medium blue ground, with pink in the blossoms, and green leaves. It is finished to a smooth satin matte. This vase is a wonderful example of the Arts & Crafts designs of the period. It is marked with the Newcomb College cipher on the base and the date code PT95, which dates this beauty to 1926: It bears the initials of Anna Frances Simpson on the base, as well as those of Joseph Meyer, the potter.
