1900's Antique Quarter Sawn Oak Fireplace Mantel massive claw feet lion's faces - $2,600 - (Braidwood, IL)
This is an estate find, from right around the turn of the century, early 1900's. It is a Quarter sawn and regular grain oak mantel that has massive claw feet, and lion's faces on either side of the mirror. The framed bevel glass mirror has a large 2" bevel and just sparkles in the sunlight. Mirror is in good condition, not losing the silver backing. Mantel has a height of 7ft 5" tall, 5 ft wide, and firebox measures 42" tall x 41 1/2" wide. The mantel has a 5" depth in the firebox. This came from a mansion home in Rockford IL and was in storage for several years. The only flaw that we found is that one board under the shelf on the right separated and has been repaired at some time in it's life(last picture)...otherwise it is a really unique mantel. Illinois buyers must pay 7% sales tax. If you have any questions, please ask. We may be able to see if our local mover will deliver, and what price he would charge, if you are within a reasonable distance. Otherwise, you must pick up yourself or arrange shipping. We are Second Time Around Antiques located approx 90 minutes from Chicago on Interstate 55 in Braidwood IL.
