Rookwood 1906 Artist Signed Lenore Asbury Arts & Crafts 8 1/2" Pottery Vase - $1,295 - (Fort Myers, FL)

This is an absolutely lovely artist signed, 1906 Rookwood vase. The artist , Lenore Asbury (1866-1933), and other artists were quite popular as Americans were dissatisfied with mass produced transfer ware being offered by the European companies at the time. That dissatisfaction was what caused the Arts & Crafts movement. The vase has a gloss glaze that features a wonderful fade from light green at the bottom to a pale lilac to a grey at the top with stemmed flowers superimposed over all. There is a kind of crazed like crackle under the glossy clear outer layer. This is more than a beautiful vase, it is an artifact representing a time when American potters were celebrated the world over.
