Normal 0 Normal 0 These are classic receivers for AM and CW, but were never intended for SSB. With this adapter installed, they provide excellent SSB performance. In AM mode, the adapter is switched out of the circuit, so AM performance is unchanged. Turning the BFO on switches in the adapter, which uses a product detector and dual-time-constant fast-attack AGC system for SSB reception. The unit mounts on the back of the receiver. With minor exceptions, all controls operate as before.We have been making SSB adapters for Collins receivers since 2009. Although the implementation details are necessarily different, the underlying circuit techniques and design philosophy are the same as those in our highly regarded adapters for other Collins receivers.
