This is a string holder and cutter called a TWINE CUT-TAINER and is marked A ROCHOW PRODUCT.This hard plastic gadget hails from the 1950's and was made in Rochester, N.Y.A ball of string is placed inside and the end brought out either the front or back middle hole.One pulls out as much as one needs and then wraps it around the base and the razor cuts it off.Pretty clever and handy from the days when a household used more string than they do today.This has one very fine, thin crack that does not jeopardize it's use or its appearance.
