10.SS English Grenadier Hanger Circa 1750-1768Two outboard branches connect the two knuckle bow with a concave counter guard to create this simi-basket pattern. Today it is mistakenly called the model 1751, referring to Morier's paintings of Grenadiers in that year. Most of this style have English or Welsh county names engraved under the guard ("Denbigh-M" and "5 / 17" here), indicating initial use in Britain under their Militia Act of 1757. Its leather scabbard is stamped "crown / GR." The above is the description is taken from "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann.
