Rare Hollywood Memorabilia! WW1 Royal Canadian Engineers British army Officers WW1 Service dress (Tailored by United Costumers Hollywood) Used /worn by Actor John Payne in the Movie"Remember The Day" made in 1941 by 20th Century Fox, John Payne ( 05/28/1912-12/06/1986) is Known for many Movies and later TV appearances from the 30's till the 70's. The Uniform/Tunic is shown mainly in the "Christmas" Scene where John Payne is Greeted by by Claudette Colbert, and where the y hug by the Christmas tree ( See picture No.12), later on in the Movie he is seemingly wearing another Jacket/Tunic Unless the this one was altered once more? (see cuffs) This Jacket/Tunic comes out of the Malibu/Santa Barbara Areaand seems to have been stored all this time due to its good condition despitethe fact that it was tailored over 77 years ago and is Tailored by United Costumers Hollywood. The Buttons are seemingly WW1/Pre-WW2 British General Service (see Picture 7), has a Custom tag with Number,Name, and Chest size (picture No.1 and 3), There are also studio/designer Markings with Number on one of the arms inside the Jacket (Picture No.2) Unfortunately but which is also very common with Hollywood the Royal Canadian Corps of Engineers Insignia and Lieutenant rank and "RCE" bars has been removed from Collar and Shoulders (Picture No.4) John Payne was a tall for those days standing at 6' 2" or 1.88 Meters, and the Measurements of the Jacket are as follows (across/down flat): Shoulder to Shoulder : 20" Armpit to Armpit : 23" Arm from Shoulder to end of Cuff: 25" Armpit to end of Cuff: 18" Length of Jacket (back) from Top of the Collar to Bottom is : 32 1/2" ALSO NOTE! It has sweat stains under the arms and on the back, whichmost likely comes from shooting under hot lights for hours eventhough it is showed for minutes at the time in the movie itself.( Picture No.12).
