A vivid and bright and lively watercolor by Donald Teague from 1936. Mr. Teague is considered one of the premier water colorists of the 20th century. This is the first time that this work has been for sale. Donald Teague (1897-1991) an American artist was a native of Brooklyn. The watercolor is signed and dated and inscribed to Henry B. Quinan...with kindest regards. Mr. Quinan (1876-1948) was the art director for the Ladies home Companion magazine for many years. He was also a water colorist himself. In 1927, he commissioned Frederic Goudy to design a typeset for the magazine which was first used in 1931. Norman Rockwell wrote of Quinan....his greatest ability was in inspiring artists to do new and creative things.It is from a private collection...a very close friend of Mr. Quinan. With frame, length is 20 5/8" and height is 17 3/8" while the art inside of mat is 12 3/4" long by 8" tall. I will ship anywhere! After the end of the auction, we can discuss the shipping options.
