There were few manufacturers of interior lighting furnishings still producing items in the United States. The small exception to this decline was Fine Art Lamps. Originally from New York and founded in 1940, the firm was still in the business of producing hand painted and handcrafted luxury lamps. In the eighties there was an enormous housing boom and mansions from Palm Beach to Palm Springs needed prestige lighting to decorate their interior living spaces. This lamp is an extremely rare custom lamp from Fine Art Lamps and dates to around 1981. It is a breathtaking design and one can see why the company has succeeded for over 75 years in providing luxury lighting to decorators and homeowners. Sleek, powerful lines evoke a timelessness to this work. It was designed to blend in with any decor and theme. If Leonardo da Vinci's studio had lamps, one could easily imagine a design like this being utilized. And at the same time, it looks like it might have emerged from the year 2125. It is a truly ageless masterpiece. The lamp features double candelabra sockets turned on by an inline switch. The switch has an extremely rare two stage set up - which allows the bulbs to operate at half brightness, when desired, for creating a wonderful mood! These lamps were hand painted and no two lamps were the same. This has a robin's blue shade and antique ivory finished base. There is a textured effect and flaws to the finish which simulate aging. Lamp works perfectly. This magnificent creation is perfect for a Palm Beach mansion, New York penthouse or Beverly Hills Estate!
