NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA SC MEDAL NUMBER 746, MAY 6. 1952. NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA medal pin. This wonderful medal has some blue enamel loss, is inscribed Gertrude Cornish Bull*, May 6, 1952, 746 & marked STERLING, B.,B. & B. (BAILEY, BANKS and BIDDLE). *Mrs. Bull was born in Charleston, a daughter of Rev. Andrew Ernest and Sarah Catherine Fairbanks Cornish. She attended Summerville and Abbeville schools and was a 1914 graduate of St. Mary's Junior College in Raleigh, NC. She was an active Episcopalian and was a past president of the SC Episcopal Church Women. She designed the cross which is worn by all presidents of the Episcopal Church Women in the Diocese of South Carolina. She was a charter member of the Georgetown Garden Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Georgetown Historical Society, and the National Society of Colonial Dames in the state of South Carolina. She was the widow of Rev. Henry DeSaussure Bull.
