Model 1855 Imperial Russian Small Sword minus Scabbard - $550 - (Neosho, MO)
This sword, and another very similar sword were purchased years ago in Albania by the wife of an embassy worker. I acquired them from the sister-in-law of the woman who purchased them. As a result of my research, I found that the swords were pattern 1855 Small Swords as carried in formal occasions by diplomats and representative officials of the Imperial Russian Government. Most of what I have found were listed as SOLD, but I found two that ranged from 2K to 4k in price.Neither of the swords that I have display any markings as to Maker or for that matter, any markings of ANY kind. I checked this out and found that it was not uncommon for these swords to have no markings, and that there are stocks of replacement blades and other parts still available. The pattern of the Langet is the Imperial Russian Double Head Eagle, and I have seen them in several types and grades of quality including closed style ( as are mine) and openwork. I also found one listed as sold that was a FOLDING sword ??? If you have ANY QUESTIONS, please ask BEFORE bidding.
