Asahiflex IIa 35mm SLR Film Camera With 58mm F2.4 Lens - $140 - (Trail, BC)

Here for sale is a Japanese Asahiflex IIa 35mm SLR film camera. One of the first SLR cameras made in Japan in the late 50’s. This is an absolutely beautiful camera for its age. There are noticeable wear marks on the body itself, and some paint wearing off the tip of the lens as well, but none of these cosmetic issues affect the usability of the camera itself. The film winding and rewinding handles work great, the lens screws on and off very nicely. Film loading are is fairly clean. The mirror does seem to have some scratching on its surface but i believe it will not affect usability at all, as referenced in the photos. the front glass of the optical viewfinder has a crack in it, but you can still see through it well enough to barely notice the crack. The waist level viewfinder works very well and I have included a photo of it in the listing. I have not put any film through this camera. listing updated, added missing photo of mirror trying to show scratching. One issue i have found this camera to have is that when the shutter is released at very slow speeds, it doesnt close all the way so the mirror will return down. I believe this can be remedied with some lubrication to the moving parts in the rear, because at fast shutter speeds, the parts all go back where they are supposed to and the mirror returns to its normal spot. So as long as you don’t use the slowest speeds, it functions properly. This camera could definitely use a service/cleaning but may also work as is. This camera is being sold AS IS, in working order aside from the fact that the mirror and shutter dont always work 100% properly at slower speeds.
