VINTAGE AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL EUCALYPTUS BARK PAINTING CIRCA 1972 - A FISHING EXPEDITION CONDITION Condition is subjective. This is crude aboriginal art, handmade and over 40 years old. The wood is dried and fragile and as such, it could chip, crack, scratch, break, warp, discolor or stain from aging, humidity, handling (or shipping). If you can't fix it, don't buy it. Otherwise, extremely rare and getting harder to find since Australia instituted their Cultural Property Export Rules in 1986 and the Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Regulations in 1987. Basically making export of these fine folk artifacts nearly impossible. A FISHING EXPEDITION The story is included in typed paper copy on the back. Acquired in the early 1970s by a renowned world Folk Art collector, now deceased, this fantastic Aborigine bark painting describes in pictures, a turtle fishing expedition. Hand-painted on Eucalyptus tree bark by a native Australian aboriginal artist (unknown) in the early 1970s. This unique primitive art bark painting measures 16 inches wide by 9 inches high at 1-1/4 pounds. Please note numbers ascribed on back and installation of a hanger, otherwise very good quality.
