Saga/Mastertone Tenor Parts Banjo - $1,395 - (Fairview, TN)

Well this all started innocently enough with a trip to an estate sale with my wife. I left as the proud owner of a 1928 Gibson Mastertone tenor banjo neck. People often remove these from pre-War bodies and replace them with a 5-string neck. When I got home I realized that I owned a 70's era Saga 250 style kit banjo with a broken neck. I put the two items side by side on my work bench and the journey began. With a head and coordinator rod set from StewMac, a bridge and tailpiece from Janet Davis Music, and a set of geared tuners from my parts drawer (Gotoh's probably) I set about assembling a banjo. Then I took the entire project to King Bee Guitars for an excellent vintage style nitro lacquer finish on the pot and resonator to match the neck. After putting it all together I realized I had an excellent tenor banjo. That called for a new TKL case from 8th Street Music. And here it is. If you've ever wanted the feel of a vintage instrument with the reliability of a modern one this is it. The frets show very little wear, the truss rod is functional and the aged vintage ebony and mahogany in the neck is something you won't find on a new banjo. The tone ring is solid brass not alloy and the pot is maple. This is a great looking, great playing, and great sounding banjo. Holds its' tuning firmly and has excellent projection and a balanced tone. It's also heavy at 10 lbs. but the brass ring really does add a lot to the tone. And it's hard to find a vintage Gibson in this condition. So if you've been looking here's your chance. Top quality parts and workmanship and vintage feel at an affordable price. Thanks for looking..... ps: Free domestic shipping = a 20% discount on international shipping and is only offered at the listed price. pps: WE DO NOT SHIP TO ZERO FEEDBACK BUYERS.
