Civil War Era Pie Tin Art, Hand Painted, Folk, Spotsylvania, Va. Tramp, Hobo. - $155 - (Somerset, VA)

This is an antique hand painted pie tin of a farmyard scene. I purchased this and two others at an outdoor Saturday farm auction about 8 or 9 years ago. I have sold the other two a while back in my retail shop. This is the last one I have. The farm auction was on an estate that was existing during the Civil War in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The family wasn't sure where these came from, but were found in an attic in an old outbuilding. One I sold to a Civil War collector, he was fairly certain these were painted in trade for shelter or food. It is unsigned, and the tin is 8 1/4" in diameter and 3/4" deep. There is some tape residue on the back, not certain where or when the tape was on it, not in my time. Not price/info type of residue, more of a masking/mounting tape look.
