Antique Beautifully detailed BOTANICAL MILLEFLEURS JAPANESE VASE - $60 - (Saint John, NB)

When found the vase had a dried up evergreen branch inside. I believe the round hole was for a seedling and it was watered through the hole in the side of the bird. I cannot translate the signature but it is signed. The detailed Milleflori pattern is fairly common in antique vases. It is beautifully done on a heavy gilded background, with razed petals on the flowers. It is 6 in. to the top of the vase spout and 2 in. across the base.
