Indian Wars Campaign Medal MNo 308 issued to Sgt. Ernest Emile Von Lorenz, Troop K, 8th U. S. Cavalry, 1882 to 1889. This is a 2nd issue medal by the United States Mint. The mint did not keep a record of the 2nd issue medals. So to have one that is positively identified to an individual is a rarity. I have other documents related to Sgt. Von Lorenz. Also a letter from his heirs that further identifies the originality of the medal. He is wearing the medal w/crossed saber with an 8 above in one photo. And there is another photo of him wearing the lapel button. Also he was; National Indian War Veterans U. S. A. Commander of St. Paul Camp No. 21, St. Paul, Minnesota.
