A rare pair of circa 1850, Qing Dynasty, Chinese guardian lions in predominately green glaze seated atop pierced plinths. What sets this pair apart from others is the "pearl" in each of their partially opened mouths. The balls are carved so that they can roll about in the lion's mouth but sized just large enough so that it can never be removed. These are even more impressive in person as the pictures don't do them the justice they deserve. Each lion is roughly 10''h x 3''w x 4''d.
