1883 L. E. Waterman & Co. Clothiers Burlington VT Black Americana Trade Card - $2 - (Pine Bluffs, WY)
Available is a colorful (gold background and pick image) Victorian Era Black Americana advertising trade card from L. E. Waterman & Co. Clothiers of Burlington. The card measures approximately 4 1/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide. The image features an African-American boy or man pouring a bucket of water into a very large period top hat. The front of the card reads, "* COMPLIMENTS OF */L. E. WATERMAN & CO.,/-CLOTHIERS-/FOURTH AND JEFFERSON STREETS,/BURLINGTON" on five lines. On the bottom margin of the card is printed, "COPYRIGHT BY HENRY SIEFERT A. D. 1883 1072". The reverse of the card is blank. The card is in fair condition with NO rips or tears. However there are a number of wrinkles, no actual creases, running trough the card. There is also some toning on the reverse that is probably due to it being kept in a scrapbook. The card does display very nicely. Please be sure to check out the large scans I have posted and judge condition for yourself.
