ANTIQUE SALT GLAZE STONEWARE PROSIT BEER PITCHER Whites Utica, New York - $65 - (Redding, CT)

Offered for your consideration today is this striking antique salt glazed stoneware pitcher with the word Prosit, meaning "Cheers" below the (figural bulldog) pouring spout. Additionally, one side of the pitcher has a raised image of a gentleman and the other an old European couple reading a book. I believe that this rather large pitcher which stands just under 11" tall and is marked 3 on the underside, was made by Whites pottery of Utica New York based on similar examples by that company. As you can see from the detailed photos, this pitcher does have quite a few condition issues, including numerous chips, cracks, losses, a missing handle, and soiling. Still, I hope you will agree that it does have character and is deserving of a second life on display. Thanks for looking.
