Charles Meigh & Son, ca. 1842 - ca. 1849 An antique Victorian Staffordshire salt glazed stoneware relief moulded 'apostle' jug by Charles Meigh of Hanley, complete with it's original hinged pewter lid. The handcrafted conforming pewter lid has a domed center detail and is hinged open via a trefoil motif handle.The pitcher is decorated with 8 apostle figures around the octagonal body and handle with relief molded Gothic scene. This 'apostle' jug, in the Gothic style, is one of the most iconic and successful of relief-moulded jug designs and depicts figures in architectural niches. Approx 8 1/4" tall maximum inc. lid.#Swalker
