Radical Robot, Yoshiya, Japan,1950's, tin robot from the Golden Era, super rare! - $3,699 - (Seattle, WA)
Radical Robot, Yoshiya, Japan, circa 1955: Now up for auction is one Radical Robot, a battery-operated tin toy robot produced by Yoshiya, Japan, in the 1950's and marketed by Cragstan. Radical Robot is the very rare blue-bodied variant of the Chief Robotman (also made by Yoshiya). This robot is in very nice condition, with only minor scratches and wear to the paint, and just a few light spots of oxidation (mostly around battery compartment door, see pictures). Known as a skirted robot, because it has no moving legs, the Radical Robot's skirted area is also very clean and looks like it was not played with much at all. One of the red chest buttons appears to be a replacement (or at least looks slightly different from the other in color and shape, seems to be common in this line of robots). Stamped KO Japan in metal on the super clean base. The battery compartment is also really clean, see pictures. I put two D batteries in and switched on the robot and it works! The dome on the head began to flash red on and off and the head started to swivel back and forth with the antennae spinning, then stopped and the robot began it's Mystery Action movement, clicking loudly as the wheels on the bottom propelled the robot forward and stopped, turning and then proceeding in another direction, then stopping again. And then the whole process started again with the head swivieling, wow! Very cool. The Radical Robot is 12 inches tall, and is from a vintage robot collection that recently came out of 15 years of long term storage. Radical Robots in this clean a condition do not show up for auction very often, so check those photos and Bid Now! Buyer pays shipping and insurance is required. Good luck bidders!
