RARE Tin Litho Ship 1960's - 1970's - $90 - (Melville, NY)

What an interesting ship. It's a riverboat because it has a paddle wheel on either side. It's made in the vein of a cookie container but it's not. It's a toy river craft. I cannot--for the life of me--figure out the OH SO stylized script on the bottom. I know Basel is a ancient, lovely city in Switzerland, so this is a Swiss made toy. But what the top part says, exactly, I can't tell. Perhaps someone 'out there' can tell. There were 3 flags or masts that went with this ship. Two are left, and they are detached. Some light welding or glue will put them to rights. Other than the flags, there is no damage. The lithography is nice--seems 1960s to me, when you look at the people's clothing (if that would even matter) The paddle wheels roll so this toy rolls on the floor. URI must be the name of the ship. Measurements are 21" long by 6" wide at the widest point and about 5.5" tall at the tallest point. It seems no detail was spared in creating the boat's fittings and passengers. A lovely toy for the ship enthusiast--only it's a river boat. River cruises have always been popular in Europe. They have them, now, on the Mississippi River in the U.S, too. This toy riverboat has no dents or scratches. Just the one missing flag or perhaps a smoke stack.
