1939 TR McElroy "MAC" Deluxe Telegraph Key / Bug in Original Box (Near NOS) - $495 - (Baton Rouge, LA)
For Auction: A 1939 TR McElroy Deluxe "MAC" Key made in Boston, Massachusetts. It sports the "marbilized" finish, a smooth sealed base, and sold for $9.50, coming in an original wooden cigar box. The "MAC" key was popular for its "dual movement" approach to telegraphy. You could use it as a bug, its forte, or you could turn it on its side and use it as a straight key. The box contains two bail wires to use if the key were turned on its side. You fashioned a bail wire between the damper frame and the pendulum to keep the pendulum from moving. Condition: Made ca 1939 it is now about 80 years old. Still it looks newish, NOS if fact going by appearance. It is dusty and should get a thorough but careful cleaning. It is also heavy cast iron which is brittle and will break if dropped on a hard surface such as tile. Terms: The key here at auction is auctioned as a desirable commodity and will be well packed.
