1928 Vibroplex Lightening Bug 796 Fulton St NY SN 103030 Black Cast Base - $249 - (Baton Rouge, LA)
For Auction: Another remarkably nice example of early Vibroplex. This model is their "Lightening Bug" featuring a nice black enameled base with fine Japanning decoration. Made in 1928 at the peak of America's Golden Age (AKA Roaring Twenties), it was hugely popular despite issues with the triangular pivot design. It sports large excellent contacts and a speed range better suiting the beginner. And no, it's not perfect but overall it has survived a century with virtually all of its charm. Condition: Dusty and could use some very careful cleaning. The Japanning is 75-80% and the paint is even better. We see no problems or issues with this very fine vintage key few of which have survived in this condition. I rate it as a 9 out of 10 easily. Buyer should keep in mind that it carries with it the hidden hazards of any cast iron device that is nearly a century old. Please see the pictures and ask questions now.
