This very unusual Rolling Plane Clock is a totally mechanicalclock, but you never need to wind it with a key. It rolls very slowly down a carved wooden plane from left to right, but you cannot see it moving. Look at it 1 hour later and it has moved an inch or so down the plane. To wind the clock, you simply pick up the round brass clock, and replace it back on the top of the wooden plane. Amazingly, the clock dial is always upright to read the time. It also has a subsidiary seconds hand moving, so you know it is running. It even has 'retaining power', meaning that it keeps running as you pick up the clock and replace it on the top of the plane. The carved base measures 21 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches, with the solid brass movement measuring 5 3/8 inches in diameter, with a porcelain dial 3 inches in diameter.
