History, 1931 Award From Elwood Rice Assoc. To Hawkeye Pearl Button Co. Iowa - $69 - (Jenks, OK)
This Listing offers you one of the biggest surprises of my Life, the hidden away of an Award Of Merit from the "Rice Leaders Of The World Association" "Warrant Of Quality and Fair Dealing", dated 1931, to The "Hawkeye Pearl Button Co., Of Muscatine, Iowa, U.S.A.". This original "Award Of Merit" was found in an antique picture frame behind the same size (12 by 18 inches) green tint Picture of the Deer in the woods. I opened the Frame to clean the glass. This Award was a symbol like our BBB (Better Business Bureau) recognition of today, but more prestigious, once given to Companies like The Gruen Watch Company. In addition to the Award, and the deer picture, there are two identical Booklets, "Compliments Of Hawkeye Pearl Button Co. Muscatine, Iowa U.S.A."The Blue Booklet with the faded title has the original 32 pages in very good condition, but the second copy has some tears on cover and pages. The Booklets picture the Plant, advertising, and the multiple Raw Shells used to produce the many beautiful Buttons for that time. Another surprise, the two Booklets were found at a different location and later time. These documents belong in a Museum, or in the collection of a devoted Button Collector. Special packing and insurance will be additional and required for mailing.
