Georgian 18k Gold Diamond Silver Earrings Pendeloque Portuguese Long Rare 18th c - $8,200 - (Stow, MA)

Rare Georgian Pendeloque earrings, 1770s If you love antique jewelry, these amazing earrings are for you. They are straight out of the Georgian world and make you think of tall hairstyles, silk and lace gowns, fops and courtiers and excess. That was the Georgian era, and these earrings tell a story, allowing the imagination to enter that long ago world. A world of romantic, beautiful jewelry that was hand made by goldsmiths and designers, and could take several months to perfect. Each earring features 19 diamonds. The diamonds are rose and flat cut and set into silver collets designed as leaves and flowers and acorns. The backs of the earrings are 18k yellow gold as are the upper latches. Most of the diamonds are medium to large in size, the largest being approximately 4.8mm x 5.2mm. Fabulous! The latches look original to the earrings and open back to front, as was the European custom. Part way down the backs of the earrings are 'extra' earring hooks. These were lead soldered into place at some point in time (please see pictures). You could leave them there and wear as is, or use them to support the earrings with ribbons as they are heavy--a typical feature of antique pendeloque earrings. No diamonds are missing. The foil backs behind the diamonds have patina from age over the centuries, however, the diamonds are very sparkly! It's really difficult to capture their beauty with my camera. Approximate diamond carat weight: 4-5+ range It would be best to not take the diamonds out of their settings, but if you do, please take them to an experienced antique jewelry specialist.
