Cast iron Hubley POPEYE Patrol Cycle Motorcycle vintage 1930s toy figure rare - $2,500 - (Trenton, NJ)
Very nice and hard to find Hubley cast iron Popeye patrol cycle. Measures about 8.5" long. Popeye stands about 5" tall. Still has its front spoke clicker. Has wear from age including paint wear, paint fade, corrosion, dust dirt, cracked rubber on training wheels. Both Popeye and the bike have been tested with magnets and they do stick. Appears the rivets on Popeye and his bike have been repeened. The toy may have had paint touch ups over the years, but I can't find any glaringly obvious patches under black light, so it may have been very early in its life. I also think there is a thin layer of clear coat sprayed on it, its hard to tell visually but the surface is slightly tacky. Still, this is a very hard to find original Hubley Popeye motorcycle in pretty good condition for its age. Please look over all photos for condition and feel free to ask for more. Sold as is.
