California Gold Miner with Knife + Gorgeous Woman 1/6 Plate Daguerreotype D792CBEK This daguerreotype features a California gold miner with a gorgeous young woman. He wore a miner’s shirt with pockets in the front and a knife tucked into his waist. He held his pocket watch that was attached to a chain that hung around his neck and grew out a thick beard, which was common for miners. She wore a silk dress with a checkered ribbon and her jewelry was tinted gold. Unusual lighting came from below them. The 1/6 plate was resealed with new glass and the case measures about 3.25 x 3.75 inches.
