“VHS Lot of 2 River-themed Movies: The River Rat + Life on the Mississippi” Rare - $11 - (San Francisco, CA)

Listed here are two prior-owned films VHS Video Tape format (NOT DVDs!), both made in the early 1980’s, both river-themed, and neither ever made available in DVD format, to my knowledge: 1. The River Rat (1984): great cast in this film about a rural ex-con trying to go straight and provide for his family, but unable to shake his violent criminal past. Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Brian Dennehy and a very young Martha Plimpton. 93mins. Paramount Home Video (cat.#1672). 2. Life on the Mississippi (1980): an entry in the “Mark Twain Classics” video series, this film is a bit lighter, more family-type fair, set in the Antebellum South, in the vein of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Stars Robert Lansing, David Knell, James Keane, Donald Madden and directed by Peter H. Hunt. 115mins. MCA Home Video (cat.#80118). Both VHS Tapes have seen moderate use and The River Rat looks like it spent some time as a former video store rental, but both are still contained in their original uncut slip boxes and both video tapes function properly.
