As such they are tangible artifacts relating to local history. Unlike First Day Covers they exist in only very low numbers. Few flights had more than a few thousand covers on board, sometimes much less, and a lot of those have not survived as most are 60 to 90 years old. They are a great item to collect in general and also are great items for collectors of local historical memorabilia.
