Vintage Full Size French JTL Violin 113017BP - $525 - (Iowa City, IA)
This is a full size French Violin, made in the early 1900s. The violin is labeled "Copie de Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenfis Faciebat Anno 1721" It has the JTL logo and then says Made in France. The violin has a amateurishly done ebony fingerboard. The fingerboard is too thick and does not fit the edges of the neck perfectly. The top is very straight grained spruce , and a very nicely shaded brownish red varnish. The purfeling is etched on.The instrument plays, and is a very clear sounding instrument. It is set up with Hellicore strings. The back has a scratch (see pics), but no cracks anywhere on the violin. The back measures 14 inches. French Mirecourt made violins usually sound very good when set up correctly. This one should be a great playing violin when done. Buyer gets FREE Shipping in the lower 48 States USA
