This is a fine, vintage cello. The real deal, a hand-crafted cello. Labeled Josef Krenn 1961. French bridge, Jargar low tension strings for the A and D strings. As such, this has a warm, gorgeous sounding tone.This cello will sound better than anything you'll find under $10k. It has the desirable richness and depth. In the Philadelphia area, we have extremely fine string people, and this cello was appraised by Fred Oster in its current condition at $10,000. A copy of the appraisal will come with the cello. This cello is an older instrument and has repaired cracks on the top, which is not uncommon and the sound is unaffected. It is also very easy to play. My regular luthier, Harold Golden of Golden Violins, said he often sees cellos over $6000 that don't sound this good. This sample video has me playing a lot of instruments.
