Mountain Dulcimer, Black Walnut with Cherry - $420 - (Sewell, NJ)

This beautiful four-string Mountain Dulcimer is built with options to play as a three-stringer with double melody strings, or with four equi-distant strings. Is is hand made of Black Walnut, 2" in depth, with a Northern Cherry topped Black Walnut finger board, decorated with Black Walnut position dots and a parquetry strip at the 6.5 fret position. It has laser-cut Cherry "heart and lace" sound hole rosettes on the lower bouts. The flat guitar-style tuning head is made of beautiful Lacewood with a lovely parquetry strip inlaid down the center. The over-all length of this beautiful instrument is 37", with a 27" VSL (Vibrating String Length). This instrument, recently created at the workbench of Bob Gerard Dulcimers, is model number 26. The sound is lovely and full, with wonderful clear intonation and great sustain.
