This gently used one-person canoe was handcrafted by Geoffry Meissner, master boat builder, in 2004, and refinished to maintain it's unique appearance. The cedar strip process requires securing narrow strips of cedar edge-to-edge around temporary forms, and to each other with epoxy glue. The rough hull is then sanded smooth and reinforced with fiberglas and epoxy, on both the inside and outside, and coated with marine varnish. At 16' and 28" wide, it weighs approximately 60 pounds, has mahogany gunnels and a wicker seat. The seat was originally on the gunnels, but later lowered for comfort and stability while paddling. This stability makes it ideal for cruises with pets, kids, or coolers.
