Very Fine Concert Violin with Solo Tone - $5,000 - (Osseo, MN)
Here is a very fine Stradivarius copy from around 1910. This belonged to my dad who cherished it for 80 years and enjoyed its great tone quality. His teacher played for the Minnesota Symphony and handpicked this violin from a dozen instruments. According to luthiers who looked it over, the maker is not known, but it has the influence of Roth, and appears to be comparable to a high level Roth instrument. It has a concert tone and its very hard to find a violin that sounds this good without paying much more. This violin has a pleasing appearance. The best and most beautiful choice of wood was used and the skilled workmanship from the maker is apparent. This violin is fully lined and blocked and the length of back is 14 inches. The violin is in very good condition for its age with only one small repair at the saddle that is hard to see. Otherwise, no other cracks, repairs or issues. It was recently set-up by David Folland who also remarked about its surprisingly good tone. I hope this violin will find someone who will take very good care of it and give it lots of play. It is a very special violin. I believe the next owner will truly take it to heart and cherish its sound.
