1950's Vintage RCA 5U4G Rectifier tube with box. The 5U4G is the "Big Coke Bottle" version of the smaller 5U4GB and can easily replace it . This one features black plates with a top-mounted rectangular "D" getter. Clean glass with a nice tight base and no rattling noises. Tests right at NEW / NOS level at 37 / 37 where 29 / 29 is minimum and 37 / 37 is considered NEW / NOS. A little bit about me and my valve testing business..... The Amplitrex AT-1000 Digital tester and the Triplett 3444 (with digital plate current meter) Tube Analyzer are both mutual conductance testers that can test just about any tube ever made between the two of them and can test for shorts/leakage, noise, gas, emissions, and transconductance. I match tubes either by emissions (mA) or transconductance (mhos) and must be within 10%. I will usually give both readings and then a % of what would be considered a NEW average tube. I don't use minimum average readings because it is too vague and confusing for buyers. All my tested tubes are stored in individual white boxes or original boxes labeled with manufacturer, tube type, and test results.
